Following failure of sizeable number of states in Nigeria to pay the salaries of their workers over a lengthy period of time, the Governors of Nigeria’s 36 states are set to meet today Wednesday, 17th of June, 2015 at the Lagos/Osun Hall of Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja by 10:00am in order to perfect plans on how to demand financial bailout from the Federal government.
The governors, who are meeting under the aegis of the Nigeria Governors Forum, NGF, would be addressing the issue of dwindling monthly allocations since 2014 due to falling global oil price.
The governors had earlier on Tuesday met on the platform of their parties, the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
They would be discussing at today’s meeting issues ranging from Federal Account Allocation, Excess Crude Account, unpaid salaries bailout and revenue generation for all states,
The governors had also proposed the setting up of an “NGF Leadership Academy” to be run by the secretariat of the NGF.
