I decided DS Diamond was a perfect polish to wear on a weekend when I had dressy two social events to attend—neutral enough to go with both the outfits I'd planned and yet with a touch of bling to make it fancy (at least when in the right light). Since I only planned to keep this on for a couple days, I skipped my usual treatment base and went with two coats of Instant Artificials to make a smooth foundation and then topped that with Nfu-Oh Aqua Base, which I'd recently bought since so many people have said it makes holo polishes better behaved. Then I applied two coats of DS Diamond and paused to take photos so I'd be able to compare pre- and post-top coat.
Indoors in indirect light, it looks pretty sedate:
Outdoors in sunshine, the pretty rainbow colors show up:
Then I went back inside and added a layer of my favorite top coat (Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Anti-Chip).
There are some who say that top coat dulls holos. Based on what I saw when I went back outside, I say that this top coat did not dull this holo.
This wore so well that I ended up keeping it on for five days, admiring it whenever the sun hit, like here waiting at a red light (in front of an orange truck which says it's yellow):
I did get some tipwear and a couple small chips by the time I removed it, but given how holos often seem to hold up less well for me than cremes and shimmers, I was pleased. Could be good luck or could be the Aqua Base.
